The region is a diverse socio-economic area with a population just over 13,000. Some things happen every February that you just come to expect; Phil looks for his shadow on Groundhogs Day, husbands fight over the last bouquet of flowers on Valentines Day and the mattress sales on Presidents Day. For the Northgate/Avonworth Swim Team recent Februarys have delivered an abundance of undefeated seasons. This February is no different as the teams delivered victories in their final meet of the year against section opponent East Allegheny. For the Girls Team, this is the second undefeated season in a row, a span that also includes a WPIAL Championship. For the Boys, this is their 5th consecutive undefeated season, a run that dates back to when the current Seniors were in 8th grade. During that time the Boys have also earned a WPIAL Championship as well as a 2nd place finish last year. Read More about Swimmers Finish Season Undefeated, Again! Northgate Senior Signs Letter of Intent Congratulations to Northgate senior, Hailey McClain, who recently signed her letter of intent to play soccer at Thiel College. Hailey’s family were in attendance along with Avonworth Head Soccer Coach JC Mahan, Assistant Coach Lindsey Reichert and Northgate Athletic Director Bryan Kyle. Also there to celebrate her signing were coaches from her soccer club team FC Pittsburgh, Coach Paige Petroval, Coach Jason Edwards and Coach Alessandro Moreira. Hailey plans to study Data Analytics with a minor in Sports Management. She hopes to one day analyze data on athletes and use it to help promote them to the next level. Through the Northgate College in the High School program, Hailey was able to earn 25 college credits which will give her a head start as she begins her studies at Thiel College. Read More about Northgate Senior Signs Letter of Intent Northgate School District Receives $35,000 to Expand Computer Science Classes The Northgate School District has recently been awarded a PA smart Targeted grant to expand computer science classes and teacher training for students in Pre-K through 8 th grade. This $35,000 grant will be used to train teachers and to purchase technology in alignment with a school-wide computer science program. Through this program, all students will have an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of computer coding and to apply that work with robotics. Read More about Northgate School District Receives $35,000 to Expand Computer Science Classes Golden Flames Golf Outing The 31st Annual Golden Flames Golf Outing will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Shadow Lakes Golf Club. The Golden Flames Golf Outing is a great opportunity for the community to support the spirit and pride of the Northgate School District. The proceeds from this event funds two scholarships for students of the Northgate class of 2020. Read More about Golden Flames Golf Outing Pre-K Early Registration 2020-2021 Eligible children will be accepted into this program for the 2020-2021 program year, with preference given to children who will enter Kindergarten in the 2021-2022 school year and who are not currently enrolled or selected for other Pre-K programs. The Pre-K Counts classroom is located at Bellevue Elementary School. There is no cost to parents/guardians for this program. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
